Advanced Semiconductor Engineering

Generative AI, IoT, and autonomous driving technologies are making remarkable progress, and semiconductor integrated circuits that enable these technologies are becoming more and more important. In addition, improved performance of power electronics is essential for highly efficient use of electric energy, and widespread use in electric vehicles and railroads is expected. Japan was once the world leader in the field of semiconductors, but that momentum has now been lost. However, there are many technological seeds in academia that will drive the semiconductor field in the future, and industry-academia collaboration is a hallmark of the University of Osaka. This group aims to improve its presence in the field of semiconductors by establishing a cooperative group that covers semiconductor physics, novel devices, integrated circuits, power devices, circuit design, and manufacturing technology, while cultivating young researchers by accelerating interdisciplinary research.
